Big Cook, Little Cook: The Television Programme

We see our friends making exciting recipes, exploring shape, measurement, colour and texture - delicious things to make and eat that our young audience will long to try out for themselves at home.

Each show contains a mouth-watering, fun and innovative recipe, a story in the form of 'Little Cook's Adventures In The Big World', two songs and a 'real world' film, looking at the origins of one of the ingredients, shot on location around the UK. These 'real world' sequences inform and enrich a child's experience by exploring where many ingredients are found - whether these ingredients are grown, or being processed and manufactured, the young child at home is offered a window to this wider world.

Ben and Small's recipes are simple, but different, and are inspired by the arrival of a different character coming into the cafe at the beginning of each show. The programmes are full of humour and encourage parents to watch alongside their child, picking up on the catch phrases and singing along with the songs. The construction of each programme has been carefully thought through and will engage the audience, promoting listening and attention skills together with the opportunity to explore and enjoy the creative use of words.

Hygiene and safety tips are given throughout Big Cook Little Cook, reinforcing how to cook safely. The characters use a range of ingredients to promote healthy eating and inventive cooking. Many different foods are introduced throughout the series and children are encouraged to try things they may normally steer clear of.
